Roulette

You’ve seen that Roulette wheel spinning in countless movies and television shows. You’ve watched as people put their chips down, but still wonder what the draw and appeal is. Or, more to the point, just how to play.

You obviously don’t have time to catch a flight to Atlantic City or Las Vegas, or you’d already be there learning the ins and outs. You could buy that 9.95 casino game at your local computer store, but where’s the fun in that? Wouldn’t it be much more fun to try and earn a few bucks while learning?

Well, online casinos have put it right there for you.

To play online Roulette is just like playing it in real life. The wheel has 37 or 38 pockets where a little ball will land when the wheel stops. Don’t worry; you don’t have to pick a single number unless you want to. If you do, the payout is 35 to 1, but the chances of actually hitting any one number are slim. There are other ways to bet.

Split Bet: Is betting on two adjacent numbers. If the ball lands in one of the two, the payout is 17 to 1.

Street Bet: Is betting on three numbers in a horizontal line. The ball hitting any of those three pays 11 to 1.

Corner Bet: Is betting on a block of four numbers, and pays 8 to 1.

Line Bet: Is betting on six numbers in two adjacent rows pays you 5 to 1.

Columns: Is placing a bet on the 12 numbers contained in any one of the three columns on the table, and pays 2 to 1.

If those odds seem long, you can also:

Bet red or black, which is betting that the ball will fall into one of those colors. It pays an even 1 to 1.

Bet even or odd, which is betting that the winning number will be either even or odd. It also pays 1 to 1.

Bet low or high, which is betting that the ball will fall into either low (1-18) or high (19-36). It pays 1 to 1.

Bet dozens which is placing your bet that the winning number will fall in (1-12), (13-24), or (25-36). The payout is 2 to 1.

The trick to playing Roulette online is finding a site you’re comfortable with, and is eye pleasing to you. As always, never put more into your online casino account than you can afford to lose.

To start, find a site which has a low buy in (the amount of money required to open an account), and which doesn’t require huge bets. Watch the numbers the wheel hits for a while. Ease into playing Roulette.

Start small, betting mostly on the 1 to 1 payout. Every once in a while, place one of the riskier bets with the minimum. If you win one of those 35 to 1 bets, never put it all back down on another single number. Also, putting the minimum bet on all numbers won’t win you anything. You might make your money back, but you’re not better off than when you started.

Before you know it, you’ll be one of the high rollers on the site. Just be patient, and don’t let the greed bug make you do foolish things.
